View Full Version : looking for ideas

In the 2000's I had a cobalt blue kitchen and these lovely cobalt blue vases. I would like to somehow cover the blue so they go with my current kitchen that is black/tan/ deep red with copper accents. I was thinking of decoupage but all I could find online was being done on clear glass. My other thought was using spray paint, either copper or a stoneware finish. Anyone have better ideas?

Thanks =)

You can decoupage on the blue glass also. Just bear in mind that whatever you use would need to be thick enough to cover the blue.

Those might actually look good with swirls of your current colors (black, tan, red) painted on the blue background (with just bits of the blue showing through). Then sponge paint a metallic copper over it. That way it would match your current colors, but still show some of the original blue (which would help to show off the other colors).

Those are beautiful! You could definitely decoupage them; you'll need something other than tissue paper or other thin materials, but the process is the same. I also like the idea of sponging or otherwise adding your colors and letting the blue still peek through. This site shows using scrapbook papers to decoupage on the glass: https://www.plaidonline.com/blog/post/2015/07/21/diy-decoupage-on-glass-yes-it-s-that-easy
