Hi folks, Iím hoping someone out there might be able to suggest a way of restoring the colour to some lantern balls. I have a string of lights, which have little balls fitted over the bulbs. We let a friend borrow them and they were left out in the rain for a few months. The colour has now faded from the pink ones and the green ones. I think the material is some sort of acrylic fabric. I tried leaving them in a bucket of water with food colouring in, but it didnít work. Could anyone please suggest something else I could try please?!! Photos attached. Many thanks in advance

I can think of two options.

1. regular fabric dye. Comes in lots of colors. You can get liquid or fabric paint pens.

2. acrylic paint. Thin it with a bit of water and brush on. Let dry thoroughly.

The dye may be better for the outdoors - in case they get rained on again.

I would use a wash of acrylic paint (thin to just barely thicker than water). Then spray them with Scotchgard or another fabric sealer to protect them.

thank you very much to both of you - I have ordered some acrylic paint. I'll let you know how I get on!
