View Full Version : Confused with american glue names...

Hi. I'm new here :001_tongue:

My wish: to glitterify 2 things: 1. my boring transparent silicone phone case, and 2. this notebook that is still perfect inside but the fake leather on the outside is dry and crumbling off.

My problem: I live in Thailand and I have NO CLUE what the hell a mod podge is. Everywhere on the internet, people ALWAYA and ONLY use mod podge to glitterify things. And if you google "DIY mod podge", you get Elmer's glue, something which I also have no clue about.

My question: I have this latex glue (is this the same as liquid latex that makeup artists use?) http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tesco-Latex-Glue-Adhesive-Paddle-Within-the-Lid-227g-Paper-Crafts-Adhesives-Glue-/121782324869/?_ul=GT
This is what I have. This exact brand.
1. Is this basically the same as Elmer's glue?
2. Can I make mod podge out of it?
3. How about decoupage? Can I "decoupage glitter"? Can I do my projects using decoupage glue (if the answer to questions 1-2 are "no")?

Sorry for the long post, I have been confused and frustrated for months. I have tried using the latex glue directly on silicone, glitter and all, and while it leaves a nice finish, it easily peels off from the silicone.

If all else fails, I'm gonna just use double-sided tape. :helpsmilie:

I am not sure if this is the same glue. You would have to check online to see if it is non-toxic. I wouldn't use it if it says it says it is toxic.
