View Full Version : Decoupage shoes advice?

Hi all, I'm new. I'm hoping someone can give me some advice re: decoupage on shoes.

Apologies if I'm posting in the wrong place, but I'm not even sure if decoupage is the correct term. lol

My day trade is buying and selling clothes. I have approximately 30 pairs of canvas shoes left over from a surplus deal, they're unbranded and not particularly exciting looking, lol. They're the sort of shoe you can buy in Primark for 3 - 5
I'm having trouble shifting them so I wondered about maybe sprucing them up somehow.

I've seen pictures of shoes that people have glued comic book cuttings to, and I have to say they look fantastic. I would really like to have a go at this.
I've done a little research and apparently the process is called "decoupage"? And I need something called" Mod Podge"?
However, it seems there are many types of Mod Podge, and there are other considerations such as would the shoes be waterproof after? Would fabric prints be better than cuttings from comic books?

I'm lost in a very confusing but also enticing sea of craft. Can anyone offer some advice please?

I believe you want to use the Mod Podge Waterbase Sealer in the blue bottle. I remember a friend doing something similar to your idea and this is what she used.
