http://www.craftforum.com/members/kocho-1697/albums/shirt/1226-shirt/http://shirtI bought this long sleeved t-shirt at a yardsale over the summer. I finally got around to trying it on and it's too small for me.

I'd like to make it into a dress using this tutorial.

I'm just not sure what to do with the sleeves. They match the trim on the bottom of the shirt. So I was thinking I could make leggins to match, or cut them down for sleeves for the dress since it is winter. What do you think? I'm a novice at sewing. SO easier is better for me.

Sorry, I wanted to load the pic of the shirt and post it as well as the link to the blog where I found the tutorial. But photobucket is giving me issues and then my computer froze and I lost everything. lol

Off to try again.

Ok, that's the best I can do. I can't figure out how to put the pic right in the post. Sorry.

Perhaps you can use the sleeves to make a stripe on the bottom of the skirt or using fusible web to back the sleeve fabric, cut them into flower shapes or heart shapes and iron them on to the skirt.

I like the leggings idea...you could either do full length for winter or a capri style for summer, guess it really depends on how old (and how big) your daughter is as to how much extra fabric you have to work with...

If I were doing it I would probably cut them down for sleeves and keep long sleeves on the dress. I'd probably even keep the layered look, with the green on top and the pink underneath. I might cut the pink part to be more fitted and leave the green part big enough for poofy sleeves with elastic around the hem of the green part, kind of a mutton sleeve (?) type look.

I still have the shirt hanging here. I can't decide if I want leggings or long sleeves from the shirt sleeves. My daughter wears a 4T. I have enough material to do one or the other, but not both. So I really need to make a decision. lol

Thanks for all the ideas. I may grab another shirt out of the goodwill bag and practice on it so I don't ruin the cute shirt. lol
