So I want to make a few things for my baby, but I worry about what fabrics to use! Can only tell me the best fabric to use for bibs and stuff? I have a nice pattern but I don't want to use the wrong fabric.

Thanks!!

anything absorbent works well for bibs...cotton, flannel, terry cloth. You can even buy flannel with a water proof backing.

I've made some out of face cloths.
I like the flannel with a waterproof backing idea!

I have used:
Cotton/cotton (always two layer bibs)
cotton/terry cloth
cotton/sherpa
cotton/minky
terry cloth/terrycloth
cotton/cotton with inner layer of waterproof PUL
Cottton/bottom layer of PUL

there are tons of ways to do it :) You can close it with velcro, a button, a snap. I like to do velcro with the understitching hidden when its a gift :)

I have some cotton materials but I am not to sure that it will work. I put a piece in water and it ran right off the fabric. So I think using a terry cloth might be the best thing...Maybe it was the wrong fabric! Thanks ladies!

Some fleece is also water 'resistant' and some is absorbant. If you drop a drop of water on a piece of fleece and it beads up and doesnt go straight through...then it is fleece resistant. Hope that helps!

Yes it does!! The lady at the craft store suggested using diaper material for the back of the bibs. So I have a little bit of fabric to see what I can do! Thanks to everyone that helped me out. Will have pics soon I hope!
