Ok, start with two pieces of heavy cardstock, photos, greeting cards, or whatever you want to use for the box. You want the bottom piece about 1/4 inch smaller than the top piece. That's so they fit together.

5610

Make an X in the middle of the back of the top card. Use a ruler so that you get the exact middle.

5611

Turn up the corner so that it meets the middle of the X. Crease the edge. Repeat this for all four corners.

5612

Next, turn up the corner so that it meets the top crease. Make another crease here. Repeat for all four corners.

Referring back to step 4,

5619

fold the corner back on itself and make a new crease. Then roll the bottom back up to hide the new crease.

5614

5616

Next, open the box up and cut down two sides to the end of the crease.

5617

Turn the box 1/4 turn and fold the sides where you have put the creases. Corner to middle. then side flaps to the middle.

Do the same fold on the opposite side, making the sides stand up.

5621

Make another quarter turn of the box and fold the flaps down to the inside of the box.

5622

5623

Repeat all steps for the bottom of the box.

When you are finished, fit the two pieces together and you have made a tiny box.

Thanks for this Pinokeeo! I'm making Mom a pair of earrings for her birthday next month. I think I'll try making the box too!

If you get stuck or need help, just let me know.

I learned a couple of things from doing this tutorial. It takes twice as long to make something when you are trying to teach, and the results are only half as good. It's also hard to tell somebody how to do something that you can do in your sleep. I had to stop long enough to think about how to do this.
