Hi, am going to be sewing a sofa pillow out of burlap. When I sew my seams and leave the opening for pillow insert, how I be sure my seam won't unravel?
Should I secure the seam when sewing with some sort of a binding tape (hidden inside) or such to secure the seam? Please advise, thanks

I think I would Barbara. Would you put it around both squares sew it to them and then sew all of it?

I have not sewn with burlap either!

You can probably use Fray Stop which keep fabric from unraveling. I use burlap for cross stitch and when done, I fringe the edges then apply clear nail polish to keep it from further unraveling. Works for me all the time.

I would definitely use some sort of binding tape to the edges of the overlapping flap that will be the opening in the back. Use a color to match the burlap and keep it all on the inside.
