Default AARGH! Another Celebrity Children's Book!

Don't you just hate when celebrities write children's books and they sell???
These people have more than enough money, but still dump crappy stories into the marketplace just to make more. It totally ticks me off when I see so much REAL talent here and other places not being used.

*rantrantrant!!!*

Sorry, I just had to get that off my chest.

I hope you feel better now.

I actually don't even pay attention to these things. I have no idea how many celebrities have books, or who they are. And I don't care.

I do agree with you though. Not just with books. There are singers who try to be actors and vice versa. Reality "stars" trying to do real acting. They should stick with what they are good at and stay out of the rest. I get tired of hearing about some of them.

I hear ya! It irritates the heck out of me when I see a celebrity spewing forth their "wisdom" about politics or how we should be living.

I honestly don't have anything against celebrities. More power to them in accomplishing their version of the American Dream. But they're actors (or singers, athletes, etc.). That doesn't make them all-knowing. And it doesn't make me respect their opinion any more than any other citizen.

Honestly, I think too many people put actors, singers, athletes and news media personalities on a pedestal and view them as heroes. The real heroes are our police, firemen, members of the armed services, border guards, etc. I sure do wish they'd get more recognition than they do.

OUCH!! I fell off my soap box!

End of rant.

Personally? I'm pretty darn tired of hearing about their lives myself! Good grief, it's crazy! To tell you the truth, I'm embarrassed for them. My admiration goes to those of them that can keep their personal life out of the public!

I'm curious as to who DM is talking about though.

I'm with you all on this rant. I really think that a person who does one thing well should stick to it, and stop trying to be something else.

I'm also curious about DM's rant.

"That being said, I'm a pretty good woodworker, but I'd sure like to learn to weld metal." Why would you remove this? There's NOTHING wrong with trying to better yourself. Multi-talented people are the most fun!
Things I'm doing here now include, but are not limited to:
All new....
electric (whole house from pole to panel to outlets)
framing/walls
floor joists and subfloor (1,500 sq ft.)
concrete/cinder blocks/brickwork
flooring
carpeting
ceilings
plumbing
HVAC
drywall
cabinets
2 new bathrooms, all new fixtures to install....
hand making all the new door/window casements and baseboards
installing all new pocket doors
building the 7 out-buildings of various sizes, large shop to chicken coop (all done)
and when I find a minute or two to spare, I'm:
making my nutty boxes
making music
doing magic tricks
building furniture
repairing and building computers
writing short stories
trying to remember to stop and eat once in a while, and sometimes, I'm even
helping others with their home diy problems over at diychatroom.com!
There's lots more, but this is just what I'm doing lately. Po)
Multi-talented people are the most fun!....right? ......RIGHT????
Ok, I'll shut up now.....

Actually, I didn't want folks to think I was bragging. I'm a really good carpenter, and a pretty good woodworker in general.

And yes, I'd like to learn to weld. I've even got a fellow lined up to teach me. I just have to find time.

I guess I shouldn't have edited that post.

Anyway, my list of things that I can do is just about as long as yours. Except that it is about as eclectic as it gets.
Woodworking
Leather work
recycled art
fabric crafts
computer parts art
some paper crafts, although I'm still trying to figure this one out
And I can write songs, poetry and short stories

I can also do framing, put up drywall, do floor joists (started this at 11, with my dad), flooring, siding, concrete

Electrical seems to scare me, and I'm not fond of plumbing, but I can do just about everything else. I built my shop and a storage shed, built two decks on my house and built my garden beds. I also grow my own food and enough to sell at the local farmer's market.

I haven't tried building furniture yet, but somebody gave me a barn that fell down, so I guess I'll add that to my list of things to do.

And multi-talented people are the most fun, mainly because you don't know what to expect from them.

Okay....I'm tired (after these two posts), I think I'll hit the hay.

NOT!

If any of you have noticed, my mind can not sleep long. As most creative minds (the Boss calls us "weirdo artists"), our brains are always turning! I think mine goes counter clockwise!

I'm afraid there are few things I do.

I sleep (four or five hours---at the most)
I create while dreaming
I work
I create while working
I play
I create.............in my house, in my yard, and I ask the Boss what he thinks. "Whatever you think dear." (whether he is listening or not!)

I sleep
I create
I work
I create
I play
I create

And that's just about it!
