Default Bird feeder moisture problems...

I have 2 tube style bird feeders, both are plastic and metal, and fairly nice ones (read semi-expensive)... anyway, I noticed that the feed hadn't really been touched when we returned from being gone for a month, and when I checked it out the seed was wet, moldy and glued together in the tubes. After about an hour of cleaning, the seed is out and they are fairly clean, but I really don't want to hang them up just to have this happen again... one has the caps with a wire that runs through them to hang it up, and you lift it up the wire to add more feed and the other slides up on two wires on the sides...

If I was to build a little "roof" do you think that would help? It was pretty windy/rainy around here, but the one with the wire I have had for 3 years and never had an issue (the other one I've had about 8 months and had thistle seeds in it and it happened once before).

Feed is to expensive to waste! Any other thoughts or recommendations for a water proof feeder?

Default Bird feeder

I don't fill my feeders with food. I actually go out once a week and place food in the bird feeder tray area. I only have two feeders now since lightning struck my third one.
