We have the Melissa and Doug chart, but don't use it...

Currently we discuss at the beginning of the day what we are going to get done around the house, before we have free time, and we work together to accomplish things. We also have "end of the day" stuff we do together before dinner, and "5,10, or 15 minute tidies" through out the day...

My kids actually LOVE to do a lot of chores (could be their ages- 4 and 7?), and my ds was SO excited that he can finally vacuum (our's is pretty tall and heavy so he's not been able to manuever it until now).... he also loves to scrub the toilet. We work together on most things, and so far it seems to be working. Except when it comes to keeping their rooms clean- constant battle on that one!

My kids are still a bit young for an organized chore routine (ages 7, 3, 2)...but they are responsible for picking up all of their toys and picking up their rooms. My daughter, the oldest, gets the brunt of this responsibility, but she is very helpful and happy to help
