Easter baskets
What do (did) you put in your children's Easter baskets? Do you do something different than baskets?

I try not to do candy. All the grandparents usually have that well taken care of, lol. I don't do big baskets. I'd like to get each of the boys a special basket to re-use every year, but I've just never done that. We usually use the 88cent buckets from Wal-Mart, lol. I've already bought a few things for their baskets/buckets. I found some small Lego and Duplo sets in the Easter stuff at Target. I've also gotten some bubbles (always a big hit) and play-doh. I have a couple of transformers stashed away for the older one, and will probably get some cars or something for the younger one. Sidewalk chalk is usually big too, but we already have a ton of it. Crayons, pads of paper (neither one of them really likes color books, just blank paper) stuff like that.
My mom always buys cheap junky toys that just clutter up the place and fall apart quickly. But her intentions are good and I don't have the heart to tell her otherwise, kwim? My mother-in-law usually does stuffed animals and candy. Lots of candy. Lots and lots of candy. But then claims she doesn't buy the kids much candy. LOL.

The kids have saved hollowed out eggs that they have decorated. If the Easter Bunny likes the eggs, he'll hide them for the kids to find along with some treats. In our house, the Easter Bunny gives candy and chocolate. I like it that way because then the kids don't have to find a place to store or display more "things".

Oh, I know...which is why I just smile and don't say anything, lol. My mom's favorite line is "because I'm the grandma!". But that's also why I don't buy any candy, heehee. Except my Dove chocolate stash...

My mom and grandma have always done really good Easter Baskets. Tons of candy, beef jerkey (yum!), and maybe some small trinket. I love Easter!

I have changed it up every year.... last year they had a hunt for Ostheimer wooden animals, one year they each got one gift- video game for ds and Diego backpack toy for dd. My mom in law usually sends them baskets with candy and random things, and my mom sends stuff as well, so I like to give them other things.
This year I got major deals at a toy manufacture warehouse sale before Christmas and they have been getting really nice things for holidays! So I have hula hoops for all three kids, and then a huge gardening tool set for kids to share- like these http://www.amazon.com/ToySmith-Garde...ref=pd_sim_t_2 there are two kit bags like the picture, plus a watering can, and a bunch of other planting things. They love to help me work in the yard, and are always fighting over who gets what.

I love the gardening tools idea. That'll be a lot of fun for them. I was at Family Farm & Fleet a few weeks ago and found a miniature pair of men's work gloves. I bought them for my grandson. When he's here this summer I'm really going to put him to work. He loves helping out, in a 5-year-old sort of way. lol.
