Smile *fingers crossed* Hubby may have a new job!

I'm excited and sad all at the same time - my husband has been unemployed and on Employment Insurance for the last year. I've gotten used to having him around all the time and it's nice to not be alone - now it looks like we'll find out tomorrow whether or not he'll get the job he applied for at Value Village in the next town over.

It means a steady paycheck, though - a man with a Bachelors Degree in computer science working the back room at Value Village seems a little unfair - but work is scarce right now.

I'm sad I won't see him as much - but it looks like it'll be a Monday to Friday job, 8:30 to 4:30, so I'll have him all to myself weekends. He also gets major discounts (if he gets the job) at VV - which means loads of upcycling projects for me to feed my crafting addiction (yay!) and loads and loads of books to fill my head with nonsense. Oh how I do love nonsense!

So, all in all, we find out tomorrow if he's got the job or not - apparently they're interviewing someone else tomorrow - so fingers crossed and prayers - are very much needed at this point.

Good luck to him!!!!
My fingers are crossed too!
Too bad the "next town over" wouldn't be either of the Value Village stores near me.
For those who don't know, Value Village is a chain of thrift stores.

Best of luck to him Arachnea. I hope he gets it, or something even better. I'll say a prayer.

It's nice you have that relationship. Many women WANT 'that idiot' gone most of the day!
I know I relish the rare times the wife and I get to share alone or just being with the kids.

For years, I worked as a construction electrician and I know the stress and uncertainty of on again, off again employment. It's a double edged sword. There is also something satifying about being able to work for your money instead of relying on employment insurance. For many reasons, (financial, emotional and your husbands self worth and sanity) I wish him all the luck in the world and hope that he finds the job that he deserves.

Praying the job comes through! I have been considering applying at our local thrift store... I love most of the workers there (I go there a lot) and DH has been out of a regular job since March... NO unemployment insurance either since he worked for a non-profit and they aren't required to pay into it we discovered. Thankfully he had a side computer business and we had some savings, so far we are ok, but getting to the point where something will need to shift... So ya maybe someday I will be there !

Thank you so much everyone for your good thoughts - it's very much appreciated! I will let everyone know what happens if we get the call tomorrow.

While I know he will enjoy this job more than a call center, he hopes to one day be an electrician, but he's gone to two interviews now for the IBEW (I think that's it) nearby and hasn't made it into an apprenticeship yet. He very much wants to work with his hands.

Yes - for those that don't know, Value Village is a rather large chain of thrift stores - larger than Goodwill and larger than the Salvation Army. Absolutely huge around Halloween when they have both new and used Halloween costumes.

Kenbo is an IBEW electrician.
It would be great if your husband could get in.
I still have my fingers crossed for him.

I hope everything works out for you guys! I understand about missing your hubby. We work together so we enjoy a lot of time together. I know it'd be completely different if he worked by himself!
I really hope he gets the job. This economy is very brutal for everyone these days!
