Suggestion: Respecting artisans works
I have dealt with this issue on some other groups I am admin of, and we have a zero tolerance of anyone stealing pictures. Being inspired is one thing, out and out stealing of pictures, descriptions, ideas, etc is different.
I was just wondering, does this forum have a policy of any kind? I have a graphic if anyone would like it about art identity theft and I can share links on watermarking, etc if you'd like.
Just wondering.

I'd be interested in something like this. I keep finding my photographs on unknown blogs and websites.

Yeah, but theft is a federal offense.
I wouldn't mind if they asked me if it was okay to use.

I never put anything online I don't fully expect anyone out there to use as they wish.
However, I will not post pics of the mouse I invented. Or other things I still have in prototype stages.

Uh oh. I copied somebody elses photo just the other day and put it on my desktop so I could use it for reference as I tried to make my version of their idea. Is that the type of thing that you are referring to? I've done this before. Once I finish the project I delete the pictures. I hate having extra stuff on my computer, it slows it sown too much. I take credit for making the things that I make, but never for designing them.

You know, we all download pictures now and then to use for inspiration. I expect folks to download what I put up, if for no other reason than to throw darts at them. What I object to is people who will take a picture from some other site and then claim is as their own.
I even had a man put a picture of my hands on another website and claim they were his. It was actually pretty funny.
And giving credit where credit is due is the right thing to do in my opinion.

No, that's not what I meant! I'll basically explain, I belong to a team on Etsy called Cafemom Street Team. Someone ELSE on Etsy (not on our team) STOLE pics from one of our members listings (and also from others on ebay) and pawned them off as her own. meaning she had items listed that were NOT made by her..she would MAKE the items when they sold but she was using someone elses pics saying she made them!
I agree anything I put online I know I risk it being stolen, and for the most part I dont care. (thats why I give away free tutorials! Why fight it?) I'm more concerned about that kind of issue I described above. I usually try ot give credit also when I use a pic.
Does that make more sense?

Look at the photos I downloaded from the net in this thread:
Planting Canna Tubers
Since I acknowledged that they're not my pics and the information is in the bottom left corner of the pics, is that enough? Or should I delete them and look for different ones? I'd hate to keep them up if it's not the right thing to do.
I don't know a lot about taking pictures from other websites, so I really appreciate you starting this thread. Thanks a lot!

Amy, that's awful!! I hope that person was banned!! I know it's time-consuming to get good photos, but PLEASE. As they'd say on SNL... "REALLY?!?"
