i love mine. probably more to show off what i've got in the works and to more easily get input from customers than anything. lol.

I have been promoting with my facebook fan page but not much results. I recently met a social media strategist who had some very interesting things to say about how we use our fan pages and what I found out was this:

The important thing with social media is to have a strategy that is engaging. Unless you are a corporate giant. You want to make sure that your communication with your fan base is reciprocal. So don't just advertise your product or specials but post some tips and ideas, keep them coming back to visit and share with their friends.

It makes perfect sense. The basic premise is to remember that social networking should be social, which requires conversation and relationship.

Just a little tidbit that might be of value to you.

I think updating every couple of days is important. Might just be giving a craft tip of the day. But keeping people thinking about you often is a good thing.

I'm not on Facebook, but that's a good idea. I see a lot of politicians using FB to promote their campaign, and/or political views. Pretty neat idea...

I changed my status yesterday to ask my friends to promote my etsy store and if they weren't already a member of my fan page to join. I was able to see in my feeds today that a few friends put a blurb on their status about my site and it was nice to see the compliments that they were leaving! Quite a boost for the confidence level Not sure if it was coincidence, but I did get 2 sales today in my store and I'm hoping for more since I've been out of work all week due to the snow...
