Favorite Site for Selling
I'm seeing a lot of suggestions for places to sell online, and I'm wondering what everyone's fave are. Also, what you like and dislike about the ones you have experience with.
Speaking for myself, I only have experience with Etsy. I like the site, I don't find the fees too heavy, but it's pretty glutted with beaded jewelry makers. (Of course, that's true everywhere!) For that reason, I've been focusing on prayer beads more than jewelry online. I'm more likely to be near the top of a search for "rosary bracelet" than I am for "silver earrings wings."
What about you? I'm interested to hear what everyone has to say.

My favorite place is Bonanzle but we actually sell more on eBay. Bonanzle is very easy to use and the rates are low. I love how the home page is different every time you go to it. It is always filled with great pictures of items from different sellers. Also, it has a great community feel about it. Ebay still has the best traffic but the fees are getting so high.
We started our own website but have only started selling things from it. At least when something sells, we get to keep most of the money!

I'm on hyenacart.com
I like that its a set fee for 30 days & if my time runs out things still sell, still show on searches etc, It's just if I wish to list something then I pay again for another days.
People can spot your items which show randomly, they can favorite them too. If you list something it'll show on the calender, so in my 30 days I may list an item each day or once a week.
I like too that you can make catagories & pages.
If you'd like to see mine it's in my siggy, I have a white store because I like it blank but you can add in graphics of your own.

I have worked with Ebay and my own site. I am on Etsy now but I can't say that I have sold anything on any of the sites. It is rather sad but true. I can say that the prices on Etsy are much better then Ebay. The issue like mels said is that it is over run by beaders. I make jewelry and it is hard to sell them on any site. People really want something for nothing.
I am hoping to sell some of the fabric crafts I have been making. But so far nothing has sold!

Do you all think wood toys would sell on etsy, or is that overdone as well? I've been thinking about opening an etsy shop, just to see how my historic wood toys and games would sell.

No, I think you'd do well. Etsy seems to have lots of shops with (in this order IMHO) jewelry, sewn goods, paper crafts, knitwear, photography, and fine art. I see some woodworking but not much, and I think wood toys would go especially well. There's LOTS of SAHM with Etsy shops, and the best Etsy buyers are other Etsy sellers!
I would totally go for it. You have a good niche, which is the hardest thing about selling on Etsy.

I'm piggybacking on all this great info I've seen here. I just joined CraftForum, and I'm trying to figure out new ways to get the word out as well. I'm on Etsy, but sales are low. Thank you everyone for all the helpful hints!

I absolutely love it! So much publicity, and I was even published in Forbes thanks to them!

I actually do well on my local craigslist! It seems odd, I know, but it seems to be working! My big thing I'm pushing right now are my "floozie koozies" and handmade Christmas cards -both are great personalized gift ideas, and I package them in bundles, so I make an even dollar amount.

My faves are artfire.com and hyenacart.com but unfortunately etsy is where most of my sales are!
