Default need help!

I have a couple of questions. I do not have a digital camera but was told a scanner would work just as well, and are less expensive. I'm not into all of this electronic stuff so I would appreciate any advice any one could give. Any recommendations?
Now, about sales tax. How many of you have resale tax number where you can buy things wholesale w/o paying sales tax but charge sales tax on items you sell. okay, now do you add the sales tax at the end of the sale or do you include it in the price so it's easier to figure the total amount? I do jewerly and in my state (pennsylvania) I believe that would require sales tax.
Thanks.

A scanner would work just as well for what?

Sorry I don't know anything about the kind of taxes you're asking about.

Scanner: for taking pictures of my jewelry so I can post pictures on the computer and for making brochures.
Sales Tax: We have to pay 6% on non-essential items. Things like food (except take out) and clothing are exempt.

I don't know if this will help, but the state that I live in has no sales tax. If I sell in another state, I am required to collect and pay sales taxes. I don't include it as part of the price, I add it on when the sale is made. The people who live in those areas know how it works, so they expect to be charged after the fact. I keep track of what I have collected, and at the end of the tax period, I pay what I have collected.

Generally speaking, one state will not collect taxes for another state, so you are only responsible for tax remittance in your home state (unless you operate a brick an mortar business in another state a la walmart). I have found over many business's that it's cheaper to pay the sales tax up front than to go through the whole resellers permit thing. the amount i pay in sales tax up front is usually so small that remitting it to the state is a pain (the discount is not worth the effort). since a product can only be taxed once, pay it up front and just add it to your expense column upon sale.

and digital cameras are CHEAP much cheaper than a scanner, you dont need a canon ultra SLR to get good pictures, i use a small nikon and it does well enough even if SWMBO has a full on DSLR available.

Andiun: So if I continue paying sales tax on the supplies I purchase and recording it, I do not have to worry about sales tax then? The reseller's permit does sound like a pain for what I would use it for. Thanks for your help.

I think most places that develop pictures offer an option to burn all the images onto a disc. You could use the images from the disk to upload onto your computer.

products can only be taxed once, so if you pay it up front, then it's the other guys job to collect it. a resellers permit just allows you to avoid paying it up front when you purchase supplies. I've run several business's without one, you do have to pay tax on income over 600 dollars i think, but that's federal.
