Default making stretch bracelets - measurements query

hi
im new to the forum
i've been making beaded jewellery on and off for several years and after recently being made redundant have decided to take it up again - i plan to use up all my beads and supplies to make xmas gifts and try and save a little cash
i would like to make stretch bracelets as they seem to be quite popular amongst my tween nieces - just wondering how to work out sizing
i usually use my daughters wrist (age 10) as a guide, but my nieces range between 5-17 so its going to be hard trying to make sure the bracelets are not too loose or tight
could anyone help me with standard measurements for stretch bracelets?
many thanks x

My daughter makes bracelets and we just made them to fit us. We seem to have "average" sized wrists because nobody has complained. Unfortunately, I have no idea what size they are.
Unless the bracelets are to be a complete surprise, could you get your neices (or their Moms) to measure their wrists and give you their personal size? We've done that for a few people....

Default Measuring

Do you measure around the wrist or the widest part of your hand?

I would measure where the bracelet would sit on the wrist. Since they are stretchy, they should still go over the hand easily.

I agree with darlene. That is probably the easiest way of doing measurements.

I started making stretch bracelets recently, and after having beads from a completed bracelet dance and bounce across my floor after trying it on for the first time, I started putting clear nail polish on my knots in the stretchy cord. It seems to help. Just thought I'd throw that out there since the topic was stretchy bracelets. As for the measuring, I also measure the wrist.

We always put a tiny drop of crazy glue on the knot. Otherwise the knots seem to just loosen up all on their own which is disasterous!

I do the drop of crazy glue as well. Then I stretch the cord and pull it through a bead so the knot is hidden. The glue will set up inside the bead.
I use the glue that has the "syringe" type applicator and squeeze a bit into the bead as well.
