Default Native American Beading

I remember loving how the natives made their clothing and bands from small colored beads. But, the place that I remember watching them make these lovely items was in the Smokey Mountains. I don't know if they still do it there now or not.

Is there anyone here that have seen them make them or is there still Native Americans still doing this? Where are they if they are?

My mind goes ninety to nothing and this just popped up this morning at 5am!

The Federated Tribes of Grand Ronde here in Oregon has their own school and one of the things that all indian children must learn is beading. It's part of their heritage and they all do it. I've been down there a few times and every time I go, they show me another trick that I need to be able to finish a piece the right way.

I'd love to see something like that. I know we have the Seminole tribes around here. I'd love to see them at work. I need to make a call and find out where they are and when they gather.

I found this tutorial and I'm gonna try it as soon as my dragon loom is made.

She is really good with her craft and the vids. I tried contacting her about purchasing a loom because she was out, and she said she was making more and thanks for my interest. I guess she is busy. So, I have a friend of mine making me one. I can't wait to try it. I have my beads and everything.

Great videos. Makes me want to dig out my loom. Micheal's carries small looms (under 10.00) that are just right for learning on.
