Default Doily art..

I would like to share with you guys this doily art... one of our regular customers is lady that take our doilies and dipping them in liquid porcelain and then bake them to make beautiful bowls. So my moms doilies were once part of exhibition in New York city gallery. That made us happy.

I didn't either. I've heard of starching, but not porcelain.

I know that makes you both so proud to know your mother's work is exposed like this.

That is so totally awesome! I love it.

I wonder if that would work on paper.....

Where do you find liquid porcelain?

I don't have any idea where to find liquid porcelain.
I know she dip the doily in porcelain, sculpt them and fire them in a gas kiln. The temperature reaches about 2350 degrees, so all of the cotton burns out completely, leaving a hollow porcelain shell.

oooh..now it came to me... it is not liquid porcelain that she buy and using ... it is porcelain powder that she buys and then mixing it to make it in liquid .
So anybody who has kiln could do that....hmmmm..something to think about.
