Default My first pair of shoes

My dd has super wide feet and needs shoes to wear in my brother's wedding- she has hated all the shoes we've tried on her or they've been to small, so I decided to make her a pair...

Went to the thrift store and bought a leather jacket and a shirt in the color I needed at the 99 cent sale...

I should have read the shirt tag, because it had spandex in it and NOT the best for this project, as it made thing stretch a lot.. Also used the cutting measurements for the child's shoe for the openings, and should have used the infant ones, as the heel was really off when I tried to sew it up.

But for my first I think they came out ok... they are wearable if I don't get to make another pair. My origional idea was to add beads to match the dress, but I kind of like them as is...
I am going to get some regular satin and try again if I have time...

What a great idea! They're so cute. How does she like them?

Nicely done. Very creative. Who knows, after Angela is done betting my paycheques away, and you make me my tepee, you may have to make me some shoes too. Seriously though, those are great.

How clever! I didn't even know you could get patterns for infant shoes. Wish I'd known when mine were small. Shoes that fit were a big hastle for us too.

Ken, I said I'd be willing to bet your paycheque, not that I was betting your paycheque.... see the difference? And pretty little satin princess shoes would look silly on you.

weareborgswife, those are absolutely adorable! Does your little girl feel like a princess in them? You used the leather for the sole right? I imagine that could be a little slipppery. Is it? What does your daughter think of them?

I agree that satin princess shoes may be a bit much for Kenbo, but the tutorial I used would allow for him to make a pair- Angela I am sure you could give him a hand

She does like them- I used the leather backwards, so the "shiny" part is inside the shoe and the sueded/inside is on the outer- similar to robeez or other leather baby shoes- so far so good, although I didn't let her wear them long as I don't want them to get dirty!

Here is the tutorial I used in case anyone is interested... You create a pattern based on the foot of the person/child you want to make a pair for so they can be made in adult sizes.
