Default Work in progress - Steampunk Keyboard

Hi all just thought i would pop in and show you one of my "keepthebaldguybusy" projects, i have been working on this for over 5 months now, reason why is simple, i can't get my hands on more typewriter keys.

I checked e-bay and a few other auction sites, i just haven't lucked out yet.

Joseph

I was wondering that too.

Have you looked in (at?) Etsy? I sort of looked, but since I don't really know exactly what to look for, I'm not the best person for that job
My disclaimer: I have never bought anything from this site! So I don't know anything about how it works, security etc. Several people in this forum have shops there though.

It will be a fully functional keyboard, aswell as the lights for caps/scroll and num lock will be fully operational.

And yes, i did look on etsy, but paying over 50 dollars for typewriter keys does not really make me more enthousiastic, i really want to finish it, but it is in no rush, right now the steampunk jewelry i make is my priority.

That's nice! I didn't know typewriter keys were in demand. I'll have to watch for them at yard sales.

I like that. It's like antique come to life. I don't see anybody using typewriters anymore.

Very cool Joseph!! I love it! I had no idea about this Steampunk world and now I'm just facinated by it. I even have our art teacher at school looking at it. I hope to finish TOM and my Girl With Violin piece so I can share it with her classes next year. I think I still have some research to do on Steampunk though.

Love it Joseph! I'm sure you are keeping this piece for yourself, huh? I didn't realize how hard it is to get these gadgets either til I started looking! Good luck....and if I come across some of this stuff, I'll let you know!
