Default Finally getting/doing a craft room!!! :)

Allrighty, so until now I've been using the dining room as a crafting area. Myself and DH are quite tired of it since when we have guests over I have to move everything... We've had a back bedroom that I have tried to get in order and we just keep piling crap in there. So I haven't really wanted to use it as a crafting area.
Today, we decided to change that! We started by getting some shelving. We already had 2 of them, we got 3 more to put around the room. We also have a closet that I use for cleaning supplies. We're going to be putting more shelves in there. We were planning on simply painting the new shelves for the closet black once we got them done. SOO...we went to home depot, got the black paint. While we were there I decided to pick out a new color of paint for the room as well! I went with "sunny day yellow".
Anyhow, here's my progress pictures We're starting out with navy blue walls. So it's going to take about 3 coats of primer to block out the blue...

and the first coat of primer:

I'm planning on getting a second coat on there tonight. Then either tomorrow or Friday I'll be getting the third coat and hopefully the yellow up. I really hope I only need one coat of yellow since we only bought a gallon. We'll see. Enough primer coats and it'll be allright.
I will post updates as I move along!

Lucky you! This is quite a project! I hope you have fun with it, and IN it when you're done. I look forward to the progress pictures.

Well got coat number 2 done tonight thanks to help from hubby! It will definitely need at least one more coat if not 2 of primer. Friday we have off in the afternoon/evening. I'm thinking that it'll be spent painting and getting things done. I am very excited to be doing this! I can't wait 'til it's done!!

It's funny. I wanted a robin's egg blue, but hubby said no since there was already blue in there LOL. So I looked at the boards for colors and just picked yellow. I've only painted a pale yellow and that was in a bathroom, so this should be interesting LOL!!
It looks like tomorrow I'll be getting in there with more primer! and at least one coat of yellow. I hope one coat works! I can't wait to start putting it back together, our living room and dining room are a MESS!!

It's going to be great! My scrapbooking room is light yellow too. I like it because it's bright and cheerful.

It's probably too late now, but you can have your primer tinted to the color of your paint. My room was navy blue before I painted it yellow. It took five coats before it covered the blue completely. I didn't know about having the primer tinted. Come to find out, if I had used Benjamin Moore or Sherwin Williams, I would have only needed about 2 coats. Oh well.

I'm excited to see how the room looks finished.

We just painted over a retched navy blue room (it was the old owners teenage son's room) and we used 1 coat of primer and 2 coats of paint, mind you we paid extra for a quality primer/sealant. If you still see some color come through the primer it's normal, it has a sealer that keeps it from bleeding through to the paint and we've done 4 rooms in our house so far like this and all look so much better .

I've used one coat of primer over navy, purple and mustard yellow and all came out really nice after, even when I took the rooms really light. Sometimes it's worth the extra $15/$20 bucks a gallon when you think of the time saved not having to cover those extra coats!

I'll keep that in mind. We're using Behr primer and paint. Usually with the paint I only need one coat. I did a third coat today of the primer. I think I might do one more just to make sure it's even and looks right once I add paint.
I never knew you could tint it! That's kinda cool!!
I'm very excited though!! I can't wait to see it!!
