Watch Craig's List. Go to Yard sales, Goodwill, Salvation Army and other second-hand stores.

Look around your house as well, sometimes we have stuff in other rooms that we can move and then built around them......yes, Thrift stores can be a great source. Go in looking for the right color, no matter what it might be...a sheet, a towel, an curtain, a blouse (makes a pillow), anything can be cut and reused. A nice print fabric of a blouse, shirt skirt(wall paper can be too!) can be cut and framed for some very inexpensive art. And don't forget, anything can be spray painted.........

I am a huge believer in looking into home magazines and coming up with my own way of doing what the designers do.

You should go and see whether you can find stuff on fleamarkets. Sometimes you find hidden treasures but you really have to keep your eyes open to see the potential that lies within certain (dusty) pieces...

All those suggestions are great places... I also have inherited a lot from my grandmothers. Mostly from my mothers Mother. She knows how much it means to me so she trusts me with something's she didn't know who to give it to the special things you don't want left out of the family. Like she gave me the family bible that belonged to my Grandfathers Great Grandmother. It is such a treasure. This way it also is sentimental.

There is a lot of stuff out there that can make things look vintage. All kinds of finishes and paints. So you have to look at an item and say....what can I make this into.....what can I make it look like. So many faux finishes you can do almost anything.
