Default Trash to Treasures: Lampshade

There were so many places I could put this, but this forum is never used. It's true this might be overlooked, but it's more of a Home Decorating piece. And I really didn't want to do this as a "write-up" since I don't think that is one of my many talents. I think I'll leave that to the rest of you!

This was fun to do and I really didn't want to throw out my victorian lampshade. The frames on those things alone are really expensive...probably more so today!

I used many glues, but found out that the glue gun was the easiest, at least for me. Well folks this is one of my July crafts to do list DONE!

Tools needed:

old sissors
glue gun or gorilla glue
flower buddles (around 6 or 7--maybe more depending on lamp size)
an old shade

WOW that is pretty neat!! I might have to try that out. I have heard that you can do this with brown paper bags and stamps too! Might try it that way!!

That's pretty cool!! What did you cover the shade with before the flowers? Looks like some cool material?
Good reuse!

Thanks to you both! Never heard of paper bags, but that would be neat!

Tdi- I didn't cover it at all. It's what they used to make the shade, I guess. It's a translucent type of cover. Hard like plastic. But, maybe it was soft and then made hard by some hardner when putting it to the frame....don't really know. I glued the flowers straight on it!

Thanks again. I just told Barb this week how I love mostly victorian things. Anything vintage just about. However, I love bright colors! It's like I have to have my "fix" with bright colors every now and again. But, my first love is victorian vintage.

That's quite a transformation. You definitely went with color and lots of it. It looks pretty cool.

Nice job. I like it.

Hey, I think that stuff covering the lamp shade is called velum. Not sure though.
