and I've never quilted myself... but after showing her how, I looked at my scrap pile in a whole new way! It was a simple 3 inch square block quilt... she did ok for her third sewing project and her first quilt. One row is def off at the end, but she had fun!
She is 10 and wanted to learn to sew some more things, so she is swapping "mother's helper" work with time on my machine and my help... fun to work with her... and I was thankful I had a Learn to Quilt book in my pile of resources.
SO we finished the top, but she needed to go get some batting, and I am wondering if it would be easier to use quilt binding on the edge or to use the larger back and fold it over? What do you do?

If she decides to come over to have me help her finish it I will def take pics... it's pretty random- as I just let her chose pieces from my scrap bags, but fun and bright!
You might just use a piece of fleece for the "batting". And I would either just use the quilt backing to finish it or double-fold bias tape.
DD has a little doll quilt we made her a few weeks ago. She wanted her own project so I had her cut up fabric into pieces, and made a 12" crazy-quilt square out of the pieces. It's really cute! (Since she's just 4, she obviously didn't do any of the sewing. )
