I'm also blogging about my crafting. I'd love to see you there. Please visit Crafty Distractions and say hello.

My daily project was completed on January 25, 2012, but you can still visit my blog The Daily Turtle if you would like to see my adventures making or photographing a turtle every day for a year.

40 years ago after a car accident whiplash, I embroidered a pillowcase.... since I couldn't bend my neck to see my sewing machine. It took so many hours to complete, I can't imagine how much time she put into this quilt.

It is amazing!

I would contact your local historical society or quilt club to find out the best way to display your quilt and still preserve it. Or better yet, talk to your sister.... she may prefer that you actually use it - at least for a while.

If I went to that much trouble, I'm not sure how I would feel if the recipient didn't use it....

Thanks for the comment, Gammykatie.

She worked on it off and on for probably two years. She knows how crazy I am over it and doesn't mind that I don't use it. I worry about using it because I'm not sure how the colors in the embroidery threads and the sequins and rhinestones would hold up in the wash. After all that work, I'd rather not use it and make sure I keep it sealed up and clean. I just take it out to show it off to people now and then.

Good ideas, checking with the historical society or quilting clubs to learn how to display / preserve it.
