Could the spinning wheel be used as a decorative piece in the living room, or other room? My grandma had one in her living room. She didn't use it, it was strictly a decorative piece. It sounds to me like something you would use, plus use as a teaching tool for your kids, and it would look good... If the price is right and you have somewhere to place it, it sounds like a win-win situation!
Or... if there is something you don't really use anymore, maybe tell your husband that in order to get this you will get rid of something else? (Or at least put it in the attic for now?)

Could you use some of these supplies and tools you already have to make screens? Even if they are "just for now, until you can get something better" screens?

I just saw the neighbor who was selling the wheel... it was still for sale! My friend who lives VERY close by heard about it and wanted to buy it, SO she is getting the wheel for $25 AND I can borrow it for our "school" lesson and DH will be happy because it doesn't live here...

My neighbor had taken it back to her mom's house, but is going to get if for me next time she's there.... I will post picks for you all... in anticipation I checked out books on spinning at the library.

I am getting a bit giddy at having the option to spin if I desire!
