Default Knit pants pattern?

I've set myself a goal of learning to knit longies by the end of 2010. We use cloth diapers part-time but even then DD and DS both wear very trim AIO's so it doesn't have to accomodate a huge fluffy bum- or be in wool.
I was wondering whether people recommend the Picky Pants, Sheepy Time or Aubrey DoodlePants as being the best place to start for someone who is just learning but doesn't need a HUGE Cd bum! Thanks!

I'm working on my first pair right now and I'm using the Sheepy Pants pattern. It's very easy to follow, and for the stitches that I'm not familiar with, at the end have step by step instructions with pics. Plus, they have tell you how to do different waistbands, cuffs etc.

I was a little scared at first, but once I got the pattern, it seems pretty easy.

oh, and they also give you adjustments for non CD wearing kids. Which is good because I know my older DS is going to want one too.

I agree with PP, I got the Sheepy Pants Pattern and that's what I've stuck with. I was very new at knitting when I tried it and it's very beginner friendly.

I started with the sheepy pants pattern. I still use it. I like it because it gives you a lot of options. And very easy to follow.

I started out with the sheepy pants pattern as well. But I have since modified it and made my own pattern. SP pattern is simple and easy to follow, I would def. recommend it for beginners.

Sheep is a great start. Wonderpants is good for once you've got the basics down and want to start modifying. My very first project was a skirty from the SPK pattern, so it can't be too hard!

If you're interested in a free alternative, I like the Yarny Bits pattern too!

I use Sheepy Pants too. It would be nice since it has direction if you dont want a huge bum.
