Default What to do

Hello, my friend is making this "infinity" scarf. She can't figure out how it will curl/ruffle when finished because currently when opened up, it lies flat when taken off of the needles. Any advise would be greatly appreciated, thanks

It depends on which direction she is making it. If it lies flat right now, then she will probably join it when it reaches the desired length. This is what will give it the "curl".

A lot of it depends on the type of yarn and the stitch that is being used also.

Not all "infinity" scarves are ruffled or curly. An infinity scarf is basically a circle of material worn as a scarf - a short tube, so to speak. Sometimes they are made with a twist in them, sometimes not. It just depends on how the person wants to wear it.

She sez the ends are already joined. She is knitting in the round, guess that means something! See pic which I just uploaded. Thanks

It looks like she is making a "cowl" style one. Does the pattern show a finished scarf? Does it have steps at the end about how to gather it? Sometimes the pattern will say to run a length of yarn through a certain row of stitches and pull it to gather that row. Then you tie the yarn together and weave the ends in. Sometimes they will have you do that in several rows to have the gathered effect for the whole piece. When you do this with crochet, you usually have a row where you do a stitch, then skip a stitch, then do a stitch, then skip a stitch, then do a stitch..... This leaves that row with holes in it for the yarn to weave through.
