They are very sweet when you are done, so you can't eat very many of them at a time, but they taste very good. My Mama made them when I was young, so I'm going to try to make them. I bought a whole watermelon and saved all the rind. Next Monday, after my next show is over, I'm going to try this. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Yes, a light box! Thank you!! For fusing bags the method seems "simple" just place 3 or so plastic bags flat between 2 pieces of parchment paper. Iron for a few seconds to melt them together. Then you can use this to make bags and "stuff"...I'll post pictures once I actually do it this month, maybe a step-by-step!

I am guessing that shawl pins hold a shawl together near the neck. How do these work? I can't visualize it...
Edit: Nevermind. I googled it before some smarty-pants did it for me..... (not mentioning any names..... )

I agree about the lisa simpson! LOL... At least some smarty-pants didn't do this: Let me Google that for you...I do that sometimes, it's really fun

I am very interested to see what you do with those bags. So you'd best get on it!

Only google it for me if the end result is a video of YOU doing the dance!
Burnishing with a pot scrubber... Like a plastic mesh one? That sounds like it would take a lot of elbow grease. The end result sure is pretty.
I forgot alllllll about getting a photo of the finished Christmas ball. Oops. I'll try to do that today. I've been working at getting through that project box. I did some of the bleeding hearts the other day. I need to make 20 pieces and I have five so far, so it won't be done tomorrow, that's for sure!
I have also decided (I think) on what I am doing for the August challenge. I want it to be done by Friday (a week from tomorrow), so we'll see how that goes. I'll be working on that more than the project box for the next week.

Yeah, like the plastic mesh kind. By the time I get to the burnishing stage, they are already very smooth. I just burnish to bring out the oil in the wood.

I think I'm adding the craft of the month project. I'm thinking a decoupage seed box. We'll see though, gotta think about it. I want it to be functional though!

Here's the shawl pins, all done. There's wild cherry, rosewood, satin maple, zebrawood and myrtlewood. These are so much fun to make.

Your shawl pins are beautiful!

Today I started working on the fused bags. I separated them into colors and started cutting them up. I'm hoping next week or so I'll be able to fuse some together. We'll see though. I also have a 1/2 finished jar to finish.AND I have to think of a summery craft to do, I don't think I'm going to do the craft challenge this month... We're going out of town Thursday to Sunday next week and then at the end of the month as well.. time is QUITE limited!! But, I'll squeeze what I can in.
We're also having my in-laws over for their anniversary dinner.
The menu:
matzoh ball soup (never made it, my husband's family is Jewish by heritage..not religiously though)
bagels with lox and cream cheese, herring, Gefelti fish...
and berry shortcakes for dessert. So Sunday is also out for crafting Although maybe while the stock is cooking....
