Default Candle makers??

Wondering if there's any candle makers out there the forum.
Where do you get your wax supplies, wicks and fragrances?
What kind of containers do you use?
Some techniques?

I have made candles...Two different ways...

1. The harder way but I found it was funner. LOL using the double boiler to melt the wax and hoping not to catch my house on fire...

2. Getting the candle maker thing from wal-mart. Works like a charm and I don't worry about my house as much.

When I did it the old way I would go up to williamsburg and buy my stuff, but the place I used to go closed so I kinda stopped making the candles. I do know that A.C. Moore and Jo Ann's both have the candle stuff. It will cost you a bit more to buy from them. I also recycle my candles and use them over again..

"Candle maker thing"? What's that?

My daughter got a kit with little wax beads a few years ago for Christmas that she loves using. You can either leave them little beads and layer them into a container with a wick or you can melt them and pour them into something. She prefers to melt them. My grocery store was getting rid of damaged packages of Parowax beads once and I scooped all but the really bad ones. She adds a crayon to those to add colour. She melts them very carefully on the stove in a small, old pot that is designated just for her candles. She puts that pot over a larger one filled with water.
Her grandma got her a new kit for her birthday and that has fragrance. Grandma got the kit at Michael's.
My daughter uses anything she can ger her hands on as containers. Dollar store votive holders, sea shells... I gave her a small heart shaped cake pan (I have two) and she makes heart shaped candles sometimes. People save their containers for her when they have finished with a "storebought" candle too.

I'm just thinking about getting into it a little bit. I'd like to find a place online for cheaper supplies, but unsure which ones can be trusted. Although, I suppose if they're on google's top list then they're okay..?
I didn't really know where to post this though...art? I'm looking into soy candles a little bit. I've been thinking about it since we have cheap crappy ones in the house and they're very smokey. I would like to make our own candles from now on and see how I do with them.

As for company's to buy the stuff from online. I would make sure to check there stats and there customer feed back. Some places will rip you off!! Hope you find what you are looking for!

Haha! I was serious though! Is it a kit of wax beads etc. or some kind of easy bake oven type contraption that safely melts your wax for you? Because if it is the latter, I'd like to hear more aobut it!

hmmm...... It looks a little like a spaceship to me....
I am going to look for one of those. I hate having to clean all the little wax spatters off the stove when she is done. She is great about cleaning up after herself in general, but somehow she never sees that! Plus it would make a great birthday or Chirstmas gift!!

It looks interesting..I'm kinda with Angela on it looking like a spaceship LOL. But I will keep it in mind.
I just want to try making them and see how it goes. I'm tired of cheap candles, but we can't really afford the high prices of better ones from stores/catalogs. I think making them would be fun, creative and cheaper. YAY!
