Extracting Essential Oils for Perfume, Incense, etc.
Ever wonder how they get the perfume from the flowers?
Want to make your own essential oils for soaps, incense, perfume, etc.?
You don't need a chemistry lab!!
Just a coffee can, some coat hangers, a little ingenuity and a light bulb!
If anyone is interested, I can do a tutorial.

I don't think I would actually do it myself, but I would be interested in seeing the tutorial. But don't create one just so I can see it...

I extract citronella oil and use it as cologne/insect repellent in the summer.
I LOVE the smell of that stuff! (...and bugs do not)
But you can take the oils/smells of pretty much any flowers you like.

I'd be interested in seeing a tutorial on it also. It would be great to smell Lilacs in the winter.

I'll see what I can do without getting into too many levels of purification, and without using any chemicals you cannot get at your local drug store or Meijers. The stuff I make is just a simple rinse, and I like to drip the citronella oil on the woodstove as incense. It makes the whole house smell good. I also have other oils I do this with as well. Some people just drip the oil on a hot light bulb, but I would think you'd have to clean the crap off occasionally.

Or, like Granny Clampet does with the vanilla extract, you could rub a little behind yer ears.
