Cool food safe clear finish for wooden utensils

Can anyone recommend a food safe clear finish that I can use on wooden carved utensils?

I think people use some kind of mineral oil for wooden bowls and utensils.

We coat our cutting board with a mixture of mineral oil and paraffin wax.

We keep a mixture of one cup of mineral oil with two tablespoons of (melted)paraffin wax in a jar and use it to coat the board as needed. I would imagine that you could use it for other wooden utensils as well. But it is not permanent by any means and needs to be re-done periodically!

Why put anything on them? If they are going to get used frequently, just wipe them down so that they are clean, and leave them alone. I have bamboo cutting boards, and that's what I do.
