Default How to secure a patch to painted wood

I'm looking for the best way to secure a patch (the kind normally sewn to a uniform shirt) onto a piece of painted wood. I don't want to make any holes in the patch or wood. I'm looking for suggestions on securing it with some type of adhesive. Does anyone have any experience with this? I was thinking of using the construction adhesive called "liquid nails", but I've only got one chance to get this right, so I thought I'd ask here first.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks
