Default Need Help with a craft project for church

Hello.

Our church is celebrating the 100th anniversary of our stone church. The committe has worked hard and I'd like to give them a remembrance of there time spent. I have several small (1 1/2 in. by 2 1/2 in)stones that match the church. I'd like to put the logo and a few words on the stones. Metal tags are to pricey. Has anyone heard of printing on thin paper and decopageing to the stone. Could really use ideas. The celebration is Seot. 20.

Thanks, Sue

Congratulations to your church! How awesome to be celebrating 100 years.

As far as the stones go, it probably depends on the texture of the surface where the thin paper would be applied. If it's not very smooth, I'm not sure that the paper would be able to fully adhere to the stone.

Can you post a picture of a couple of the stones? That might help someone here think of a way to make it work.

We'll do our best to help you.

Sue, when my daughter got married and bought a home...I created a plaque...actually it is a stepping stone....out of concrete and polished rocks. I bought some "quickcrete" from Lowe's or Home Depot, used a Rubbermaid utility container as a mold, mixed and poured the quickcrete, waited for it to get to a soft set and embedded the stones.

This was very inexpensive and you can get very creative....even embed things other then the stones. You can also make it very smooth as it starts to set use a soft wet sponge to wipe over the slab, actually do this before setting your embeds.

Get the idea!

I know that I am a little late for your church project, but I wanted to comment on Mrs. J's post. I think the personalized concrete stepping stones is a great idea. I have thought about making pavers with unique impressions or embeddings. I have done some of this in my concrete tables.
