It may not be a craft, but I saw a picture the other day where someone made a 'canoe' out of empty bottles. It was pretty neat, although I think it would have been better to fill some of them with some kind of spray foam, like "Great Stuff".

Thinking of my "what to do with old shirts" thread, I got to thinking about items I have tried to come up with what to use them for. Just off the top of my head, I have these items:

Tide detergent boxes
Altoids/Clover Valley tins
sauce jars

I have made a couple of gift boxes with the Tide detergent boxes. I did it at Christmas time one year.

I have many of the tins. I keep thinking I could use old buttons and glue them on it and also use them to give something small in them as a gift. No, I've not done anything yet. Any ideas?

The decorative sauce jars I have reused either for gifts of buttons. Or fixed those cookie in a jar with those.

It just seems silly to buy more things when we could make something out of these.

So, what are some items you have used as trash and made a product that can be reused? Lets hear them!

I have some chairs that need repair, but can't find out how to use sandpaper and save hands from scratches

As for ideas for recycling, I look at these projects sometimes: https://www.livemaster.com/diy/recycling

I'm just a beginner at crafts, but I'd be scouring Pinterest for ideas to recycle the little cardboard rolls leftover from toilet paper. After a lot of trial and error, I managed to make a pretty artsy wall hanging, frame and all, out of these rolls. Success at last!
