I'm also trying to remember what causes that. Is it the tension maybe? I'm guessing. I don't sew enough to know.

hello everyone..happy weekend.

it has to be the tension i think...because half the thread is hanging off the spool. this is so terrible. I think I should of started with one of those little kid singer sewing machines that they have out there.

but I am glad I am not the only one ..thanks. Back to the freaking tutorials..

Don't give up. Keep trying a tension that fits. I think the manual should say how to fix it.

I have no idea why they can't send a sewing machine ready-to-sew. Beats me.

Good luck Kimber!

This might sound strange, but make sure the bobbin is right side up and wound right side up. My bobbins are marked so I know top and bottom (and even then I have done them upside down). A bobbin wound wrong or in wrong can do that. When you thread your machine, some spools pull with the thread to the front, some from the back or over/under. The thread for the bobbin then would have to be wound with the thread coming off the spool in the same direction. Look in your book and see what direction the thread come off the spool and thread accordingly. If one or the other is not wound in the correct direction, you get a backlash..........
Hope that helps, or you can understand what I mean.

I'm going to have to check my manual!!! I had no idea bobbins had right and wrong sides.... I wonder if mine does....

Omg...I got sawing machine for my mom last Christmas for present and I am happy she don't have time use it... i know it is terrible of me to say it but none of us know how to use it and since she don't speak any English I will have to go through instructions and internet to try figure out problems. Other day we thread it and I had to follow step by step movie that came with it...i don't know how to thread a machine.... :P
I will have to learn it.

I forgot about the bobbin thingy. I've sewed off and on for years, but believe me, I'm no expert! I'm like Angela...if all else fails, get the manual!
