anyone else....

anyone else have a problem with sewing up really pretty and expensive fabric? i have the hardest time getting the courage to sew up my heather ross or Alexandar henry fabrics. theyre too pretty and im afraid i wont do them justice. i keep them around waiting for the perfect project, but then when i find it i dont do it.. :(

Well, I buy the cheap-o fabric that is on sale the odd time I buy some, but I have a T-Shirt that is just a big square that I want to fix up so it is more feminine, but I am afraid to touch it in case I goof it up. (which is kinda funny since I got it at a thrift store for $3) Is that the same?

I understand what you mean. It is hard to make the first cut, since you don't want to ruin your expensive material. It might be easier if you do a pattern you have already done. If you've already made the same type cuts you might feel more at ease. Best of luck I know your feeling!

oh, I am such a chicken. And it doesn't even have to be the expensive fabric. If I have fabric I really like (which is 99% of it) I will ponder and delay cutting it on the off chance it won't look good on the thing I want to make or I will make a mistake and be at a loss.

Same here!!! I know I can make the item, but will I love it as much when it's done as I loved the fabric?

YES!! It took me forever to use some knits that I have. I just ordered Amy Butler fabric to make throw pillows, and I can see my self hesitating on something so simple.

I totally have a problem with that. But I just keep a small square for me of every fabric that I LOVE and someday I am going to be able to make myself a pretty patchwork quilt for my bed that will make me smile very big because they will all be my favorite fabrics :)

That's why I have 3 yrds of fabric still sitting in my pile that I purchased 10 months ago!
