Well, having just had #2, I can say I *still* find stuffed animals to be the most useless gifts. Blankets are hit or miss. We have a couple of special quilts and knit blankets that special people have made for us, but we mostly use the flannel receiving blankets and use them as burp rags. Things I get more use from are:
- bags: I keep 2 diaper bags, one big for long outings and one small for quick trips, plus a bag for my breastpump and accessories that doesn't look like a breastpump bag is helpful
- crib/cradle/co-sleeper/moses basket SHEETS (so much more useful than blankets - we go through lots of sheets)
- piddle pads for the crib or carseat (wool is fabulous for this)
- diaper rash cream (I make my own, but we go through enough that I'm always accepting of more)
- washclothes/cloth wipes
- pacifier clips
- nursing breast pads
- bright wall decorations/mobiles (I have mobiles both over the crib and over the changing table)
And, my #1 fav homemade baby gift: hot meals delivered to my house!
