Cloth diaper sewing!

So, who else is sewing cloth diapers? I've seen several mentions and the tutorial, so I know there's at least a few out there!

I've just begun on making a stash of pocket diapers for my future children, and I can't wait to finish them all! So far I've finished 2, with many more cut out waiting to be sewn:

The pattern I'm using is Darling Diapers - it's been really great to work with.

What about y'all? Patterns? Tips? Stories?

oh those are looking awesome! I'm a prefold kinda girl so there's not much making my own but I have used the little comet tails wrap and I really enjoyed it. I altered it a little so it funtions like a pocket fitted and can be snappied or pinned closed. that's the extent of my diaper sewing though

I have sewn all the cloth diapers excpet the 12 i BG AIO's that i bought when i first started. Tips? Its all trial and error. I do know that i can never get PUL to work for me and i have always used 3/4 inch braided poly elastic.

You are so on top of it! They look great! I'm a self-taught seamstress, so I rarely buy patterns, which is probably a bad habit. I'd save myself a lot of time...lol

That's so great. Any idea what the cost comparison is? How much did you spend on the materials for 1 diaper?

I am sewing trainers. I didn't get into sewing until after buying my cd stash. I will post pics when I get some more completed.

I love sewing cds and trainers. The darling dipe pattern is by far my fav for starting out, nothing else even compares. It has so much info and modifications its awesome. I think Ive bought at least 12+ other diapers patterns now, plus I have the many free ones...... its a bad addiction lol

Haha, I've heard other people say that about patterns! I've printed out one other free one, but so far have resisted the urge to buy any more.

The Darling Diaper pattern IS really so good for beginners - I am the type of person who need full directions, and it has been so great!

I've kept track of all the supplies I've bought, and it divides out to between $2.50 and $3.00 per diaper! Which is one of the main reasons I decided to sew my own instead of buying $20 diapers.

That price includes the pattern and the snap pliers I had to buy, which will be used for more than this pile of diapers.
I did choose the cheaper suedecloth over the more expensive microfleece/velour/minkee options for the inner though, as well as buying my PUL through a coop during a great sale and getting snaps on sale. (1000 sets of snaps for $24 plus low shipping!!! Great price!)

I've sewn all of my own diapers. I probably have 15 or so now. I've used the free tighty whitey hipster pattern, rita's rump pocket, and I bought the DDU pattern. Right now I'm trying to work out my own pattern for a one size diaper, so I've been trying different things. I'm getting addicted to buying fabric now though... What are you all using for soakers?
