I make my own fitteds using the Very Baby pattern, which I tweaked a bit to suit my taste in fit for my DD. I use knit print outers, OBV inners and zorb and heavy BF for soaker layers. Here is a stash photo:

I only make prefolds! I either do them with serging all around (2x3x2) or I serge the 2 pieces right sides together and then flip them right side out so along the legs is turned and then when I serge the ends I add in a doubler so its on the outer and loose for quick drying time They make up super fast too!

I make them for us and to sell . You can see some of my work on Flickr. I even added some wool wraps I made. http://www.flickr.com/photos/45651797@N03/ I also make trainers from my own pattern. I only have one size right now and they fit up to 25 or 26 lbs (but they're kinda hard to pull up and down at 25 lbs-doable though). I think they fit down to about 15 lbs. DS was about 17 lbs when I made them.

I'm a diaper sewer wannabe! I just got a serger and have some good fabric on the way. I've made a few diapers out of left over materials and they've turned out o.k. I finally just got my snap pliers and am getting better so I'm almost ready to use the good fabric. I purchased the darlings diaper unlimited pattern.

My baby is due in April. I prefer fitteds/covers and already I have about 14 NB fitteds/prefolds I want to sew another 10 or so.

What I really want to do is sew some covers like Bummis covers, but I have no clue where to get that type of cover fabric, anyone know?

Also I want to sew some interlock wool but need to find the wool at a decent price. Nice to meet you!

I've been working on a pattern for fully wipeable, hidden snap covers. I have a few testers out there, and I'm still tweaking my design. I am sooo addictied to using my snap press! I love it!:ninjaI love this smiley!)

To the poster with the PUL issues: Have you tried a teflon foot?I hear that makes the PUL much more cooperative! It's tricky stuff to work with!

Ali, you would want PUL, I believe.

Here is the cover tester I made for my son out of a Superbrite. I didn't like the binding, velcro, or cut of the superbrite, but I love the fabric, so here it is:

I'm a diaper sewer-wanna-be too! I have a snap press and bought the DDU pattern as well. My DD is 15 months, so I am hoping to start sewing a few for her and then work on a newborn stash as we are currently TTC.

I can't wait to get started but feel overwhelmed by all the different options in terms of style and fabric choices. I'm going to try making a few using some old receiving blankets and t-shirts.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how many layers using those materials I would need for say a newborn fitted?

Thanks!
jes

Wow, those look awesome. I did my baby's newborn stash and have been meaning to do more, just haven't gotten around to it. LOL. I really find it a labour of love. I can whip together a collard shirt and zippered jeans in a night for my son, but put a diaper in front of me and I'm all thumbs. I don't know what it is, but I didn't really enjoy sewing diapers. I mainly use prefolds or pockets stuffed with prefolds.

I've really only sewn fitteds. I've made a few pockets but I haven't really delved into them yet. What I need to work on is some covers! I have a cut of retro cars PUL and some black FOE but I'm too scared I'll make it and then the cover won't fit right lol. I have the DDU pattern but I don't know how I should go about doing it. I want to make it a OS cover.

Here's a few newborn ones I've made:
