Default Sewing my own

I started sewing my own cloth dipes after we did prefolds and white covers with our son. I LOVE all the fabric. I am working on getting a business up and going with it now - so I can support my habit. I love making AI2s and pockets and now want to try my hand at covers!

Deep down I am a prefold kind of girl! I guess thats because I used only prefolds on my first LO. I've never made, any, though. I should try that.

BUT my second LO is a HUGE wiggler and hates diaper changes. So I've had to switch to mostly fitteds. I love all the gorgeous fitteds out there but can't afford them. So I've made quite a few of my own. I did buy some OBV to use for overnight dipes but discovered she doesn't do well with OBV unless it is changed frequently. So I'll go back to cotton on my next batch. I mostly use recycled fabrics that I can pick up at my thrift store on bag sale days. I've been using a combination of my own patterns and RRPs.

I just picked up the DDU pattern and the HHS pattern as well as snap pliers and snaps. I really am not looking forward to getting into snaps but DD is fascinated by Aplix and I can't get her to leave her diaper on long enough to get a wool over it! So I'm going to have to learn to do snaps.

I've been pleased with some of the dipes I made using recycled fabrics. I've used flannel from pjs, knit from t-shirts, and 80/20 cotton velour from sweatshirts/pants. I do a 3 layer dipe with a 3 layer trifold soaker (turns into 9 layers while folded). I put a velour panel on the section of the soaker closest to her skin. My favorite dipes are the ones I've made from t-shirts with fun graphics. It makes me feel like she has something unique no one else has. And is always a fun surprise for people who happen to see her diaper!

Cloth diapering is SOOO addictive! I am only grounded by our budget!

Awww I love all the diapers ladies!!
I have made covers from Katrina's Soaker pattern, newborn fitteds from DDU pattern and Tighty Whitey Hipster, I also made side snapping fleece covers out of the Tighty Whitey Hipster they are my favorite. Although I enjoyed making newborn fluff, I much prefer my BG FLIP and Organic AIO. I have yet to find a great WAHM diaper that I truly like and works well.
