Default Do you mean notches???

Hello, These are called notches and I sure do use them! Especially if my fabric is stretchy. Yes, great to match up when placing in a sleeve or curved back center seam of pants... They sure do keep me from ending up with a lopsided garment Tip: If it is a double notch or triple notch, I cut straight across the top and not in between each individual notch. Happy sewing Sally

i have to say I rarely use 'store' patterns. I have found most everything I want to sew, there is a tutorial online written better and clearer for FREE than any pattern.
You're not alone patterns are confusing!
