Using Muslin for clothing?

I have been trying to find an antique look fabric for an idea I have, and was thinking unbleached muslin in a higher quality might work... BUT will it hold up to being washed and such?

Should I instead find a unbleached cotton? Or is muslin cotton? I should know this....

Main fabric requirements I have for the project are:

Fabric needs to be washable in warm water.
AND take dye

Thoughts?

Muslin is usually 100% cotton. It can be warm washed and I have dyed it a few times with great results. I'm not sure how well a high-quality muslin will hold up to the rigors of clothing, but it's worth a try (especially if you treat the finished garment more gently - gentle cycle, cool water, low heat, etc).

The muslin I have dealt with has always been very wrinkle prone. I know they make muslin that is supposedly wrinkle resistant, but I haven't tried it.

I used muslin once to make a shirt for a friend that does medieval re-enacting, and it held up well. He wore it for years.
