Default What are you currently working on?

I love to sew, and I'm curious to see/hear about what sewing projects everyone has going right now. Also, what fabric are you using, who is it for, and where did you get the idea?

Welcome Idda!

I am forever wanting to learn new things. At the moment, quilting techniques. The one recently is paper piecing. I purchased one of Carol Doak's 300 Pieced Quilting Blocks book recently and read up on it. I've also looked a Youtube. You can learn alot on the tutorials there. I have over the years.

Here is my ladybug paper piece. I need some practice and it was a learning block. I think I have the hang of it now!

I'm not working on anything at the moment, but I have purchased the fabric to make myself a tote bag that I REALLY should start.....

Tracy, why is it called "paper piecing"? You are sewing fabric.....

I don't do a lot of quilting, but I have serious respect for those that do. This is why. It's simply beautiful. I hope that you show us the finished quit if you choose to make one with this technique! It would be stunning.

For Christmas I got a book called "The art of manipulating fabric." by Colette Wolff. There are some really nice techniques that would lend so well to a quilt, but I have never tried quilting before. You might have inspired me to do so.

I'm currently working on a new placemat purse and trying to figure out how I want to do the curved gusset. I just finished a reversible purse yesterday. https://img1.etsystatic.com/028/0/89...95479_lban.jpg

That is lovely! What fabric did you use for it?

Thanks. I used calico prints on both side and braided the cord and elastic.

Well, I have never made a quilt before! But, I have done some DQs (Doll Quilts) in the last few months. A quilt sounds like a large under taking to me. I will do better with baby quilts or wall hangings.

Sounds like a book I need to read! Thanks for starting this thread Idda!
