Default Has anybody got a

scroll saw or bandsaw, or even use power tools. Also in England I can't get hold of cypress knees or cotton bark, does any one know of a website I could import them from.

Not me. My husband is the woodworker in this house. He has lots of fun tools, including a couple bandsaws and a scroll saw.
If it is made of wood in our house, chances are my husband made it! (except furniture)
I doubt he would know anywhere to order what you are looking for, but I'll ask him.

I use a Scroll Saw to create my crafts. A bandsaw to rough cut the initial working pieces and assorted other power tools. I use a planer, joiner, tablesaw, Radial arm saw and numerous other power tools. I am confused by your request relating to cotton bark. We have artesians who use the bark of a cottonwood tree. If this is what you are refering to it is sold on ebay regularly and I have one to be felled in the near future. As soon as the shoulder is recovered from the recent surgery.

Hi It is good to read you have a cotton bark tree to be feld. we don't grow cottonwood trees in england. I would like to carve some of the bark as I have a book called "Carving tree bark by Rick Jenson and Jack A Williams. According to the book cottonwood has lovely gold and red tones with a rough exterior. What will you be doing with your felled tree. I wish sometimes I lived in america you have some lovely types of wood there, whereas it is hard to find in this country and when you do it is expensive. I am making sculptured bandsaw boxes with my bandsaw and use the scrollsaw for the thinner stock.I would like to try out my Bosch power carver and have so many ideas. Do you make anything in particular with your different saws?

I have one in my Mother's back yard that I need to get cut before we have another Ice storm like last winter. Also found a couple of others that really need to come down. I will take the logs and have them milled but plan to harvest some of the bark. It is used by some local Indian artisans to carve spirit sticks. Will have plenty so will try to contact you when I get it down. as for my craftwork I just uploaded some pictures yesterday to the album Some ScrollSaw cuttings you can view. I realized last night that I need to take pictures of alot of other stuff as I have little record of many of the things I have made. I try to keep doing new stuff so don't make multiple's of the same pattern very often.

David just looked at your phots of your scrollsawing, you have done some brilliant work there, I love the wolf clock insert piece. I have some olive wood spindles I am going to compound cut into clocks and put an insert in. About the cotton wood I would appreciate being contacted when you fell your tree will pay for postage and packing ect. Keep the photos coming you are inspiring me with lots of ideas.
