Default Wood in the works

This is something i'm making for a friend of mine who loves WW1 and WW2 stuff.
This is my version of a WW1 trench club. I turned it out of walnut and did a stressed finish on it. It really looks like its been used a lot! I spiked it with masonry cut nails and braided a hemp lanyard on it.

And on a lighter side i've started to finish my nutcracker dog.

That's cool! I like the dog too.

Did you put the nails in it and then cut them short?

Nice job!

I couldn't find any triple hobnails so cut nails had to do. I could only find the 1 1/2" ones so I cut them all down to 3/4" then smacked them in.

You gotta admit it's awesome when you don't have what you need but can use something else to make it with! Very clever and it looks great!

Thanks y'all! Haven't been doing much lately aside from working at our shop. Built a few kitchens and got some good scraps for crafts so I figure out some things to do.

I would hate to be on the receiving end of your "trench club"....... but boy, I sure do like your puppy dog.
