Default Does anybody use a food dehydrator?

I just got a food dehydrator and I was wondering what everybody else dehydrates?

I haven't used mine as much as I'd like to, but I have done apples several times and originally we got it for Jerky... DH now has a large propane smoker so we don't need to use it for that any more. I have also dried berries. I think part of why I don't use it as often is it seems so small- one of the round ones... by the time I go through all the mess and effort to prepare all the stuff I end up with a small bag of dried apples- and can eat them in a day LOL!

We had a really big one growing up and my dad dried all sorts of things from our garden and fruit from our trees, and made fruit leather. YUMMY

My mom dehydrates some times. She used to do a lot of fruit. And of course beef jerky (oh yum!). I have a friend who's vegetarian - bless her heart - and she makes 'bacon' out of dehydrated egg plant. As crazy as it sounds, it wasn't that bad, actually kind of good. At the very least it's something creative to do with egg plant.

About the ONLY thing that ours gets used for is bananas.... The wife loves them!
I dry and freeze excess asparagus in the spring too.
