I love my pressure cooker! The new ones have a lock so you can not remove the lid until the pressure is down. I have a Basic Essentials one.

I make a Ranch Chicken in it and Beef Stew the other day. Want to see pictures? Yep took them for the fun of it, lol.

This was the Final product.

Red face pressure cookers

I have one I love it. I use mine to make pulled pork all the time and also soup. I think people remember the old pressure cookers with the little valve rattling and spitting and are afraid of them.

Barnes & Noble has some great books. I bring the pressure up slow - which means there is no black residue on the bottom (my early cooking problem). Once I get to full pressure then I follow the directions.

Good Luck

I LOVE my pressure cooker. I make mashed potatoes in it in 7 minutes flat!

And I love to eat dried beans, so I cook them without the seal for 10 minutes. Then I drain the water and start over with the beans and the seal in the top and new water or chicken stock. I cook them for 20 minutes and let the pressure cooker sit off the heat until the seal releases. Perfect dried beans in less than an hour!

I'm trying my cooker again right now. I put a couple small roasts in. Keeping my fingers crossed. Forgot to put the chopped onion in though.

Now I'm off to find the thread with the tater tot casserole recipe.

Yay!! The roasts came out perfect. I need to use different seasonings next time, but the meat was tender and juicy and falling apart.

Many, many years ago, I had a Presto cast aluminum (quite heav y) pressure cooker with the rattling pressure valve on top. I absolutely loved it. It was terrific for cooking meals quickly, when I came home from work. Pot roasts and corned beef came out cooked evenly through and through and so tender. However it became impossible to locate the sealing rings after a while so I bough an expensive Inova pressure cooker and I hated it. It was a bigger pot. My old one was 4 qts. and the new one was 6 qts. It kept losing liquid and it took longer to cook stuff and things could easily burn in it. So To this day it still sits in my cabinet. My children are grown and I live alone now so I don't cook much anymore. But I did so love my old cooker. Mirro was also a good brand at the time I had the Presto.
